Beyond Love by Kilian: Prohibited

Beyond

Not so long ago, in a bucolic setting where we were guesting in a lovely little cottage, the mistress of the main house ventured down the hill to inquire what we were doing.

It was the perfect opportunity to determine if our first impressions were accurate – and so we placed a drop of Beyond Love by Kilian on each of her wrists and then behind her ears, and finally, one at her throat.

A total of five drops. That was all it took. What happened then was akin to the discovery of an entirely new realm of pleasure.

To see the look on her face – and to hear her descriptions was to corroborate what we, too, already knew about Beyond Love by Kilian.

A narcotic tuberose in its most hypnotizing form, Beyond Love by Kilian is perfumer Calice Becker overdosing herself – and all fans of tuberose – with a heady explosion of this seductive, mysterious scent.

Originally from Mexico, but now primarily cultivated in India, tuberose has often been considered an aphrodisiac – and in certain societies, young women are warned away from the fields and the flowers.

What animates Beyond Love by Kilian more than other fragrances based upon this most sensual flower is a tropical top note of coconut. The creaminess of the tuberose is magnified by the milky sweetness of coconut – and the result is almost immediate intoxication.

As anyone who has ever worn Kilian fragrances knows, these are potent concoctions with serious sillage – and to wear Beyond Love while operating heavy machinery or driving a vehicle might be masochistic.

With Beyond Love, Kilian Hennessy, scion of the Hennessy cognac family, grandson of the founder of the luxury group LVMH, has created a mesmerizing fragrance that induces a response comparable to what Salieri might have felt upon hearing Mozart for the first time: a mind-altering confrontation with visceral sensation.

It’s no wonder that the fragrance’s full name is Beyond Love: prohibited.
