Years ago, as a university student in the South of France, I became entranced by the legendary allure of Deauville<\/a>: the horse races and the Grand Casino that catered to European aristocracy, the grand hotels that lined the beach of one of France\u2019s most prestigious seaside resorts, the glamorous international film festival.<\/p>\n

Less than two hours\u2019 drive from the French capital, Deauville and the surrounding C\u00f4te Fleurie has become known as the \u201cParisian Riviera.\u201d Since its founding by Emperor Napoleon III\u2019s half-brother, the Duc de Morny, the area has served as a second home for high society and luminaries \u2014 as well as artists such as Monet, Baudelaire, Flaubert, Boudin, and Proust. Small wonder that Coco Chanel opened her first boutique in Deauville in 1913.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2013 by travel designer Quentin Desurmont, Traveller Made and its member agencies cater to a clientele of UHNW (Ultra High Net Worth) individuals and families whose needs for memorable trips are fulfilled by travel designers with impeccable credentials.<\/p>\n

Representing 60 countries and more than 600 hotels, the organization\u2019s 270 partner agencies are luxury professionals who specialize in offering personalized service to those individuals and their families whose assets hover around $31 million. Traveller Made member agencies manage the luxury needs of more than 50,000 UHNW families.<\/p>\n

For its third annual forum, Traveller Made assembled more than 500 travel designers, hoteliers, media, and tourism board representatives at some of Deauville\u2019s more legendary locales, including Villa Strassburger<\/a>, H\u00f4tel Barri\u00e8re Le Normandy Deauville<\/a>, H\u00f4tel Barri\u00e8re L’H\u00f4tel du Golf<\/a>, and Casino Barri\u00e8re Deauville<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Held at Le Palais des Congr\u00e8s de Deauville, C.I.D.<\/a>, this year\u2019s annual conference featured speakers from Louis XIII cognac<\/a>, Institut Paul Bocuse<\/a>, and architects\/designers H\u00e9l\u00e8ne and Olivier Lempereur<\/a>. Focusing on \u201creputation and labels,\u201d Pierre-Marie Chauvin<\/a> of Paris-Sorbonne University addressed the import of maintaining brand reputation during the development of \u201ce-reputation\u201d and the continued rise of online reviewers, rankings, and ratings.<\/p>\n

At the annual press conference, Desurmont unveiled Traveller Made\u2019s \u201cYearly Barometer 2017,\u201d compiled from 485 travel designers about their business with UHNW families and individuals. Travel trends revealed an ongoing interest in Asian travel, especially to Japan, as well as Indian Ocean islands \u2014 and a growing demand for \u201cprivate places\u201d with a high level of service. Maldives and New Zealand showed very well on destination trends for 2017.<\/p>\n

Overall, in spite of the turbulence within the travel industry in 2016, Traveller Made member agencies expressed a \u201cvery strong increase in confidence\u201d for the next 12 months, particularly in regards to planning \u201celaborate itineraries and resort holidays.\u201d<\/p>\n

At this year\u2019s Essence of Luxury<\/em> forum, Desurmont also announced the launch of Serendipia<\/em>, a limited-edition periodical designed as a book that features original content and sui generis<\/em> experiences created by Traveller Made member agencies. \u201cWe wish to transform these magical moments [from travel] into inspiring stories,\u201d said Desurmont about the bespoke publication.<\/p>\n

\"DoNotDisturb<\/a>

Traveller Made also introduced its DoNotDisturb collection of 14 co-branded leather pieces, which will be offered for purchase to the Traveller Made member agencies.<\/p>\n
