Not unlike the Summer of Love in 1967 when American youth headed by the thousands to the Haight in San Francisco, Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival has attracted music and food fanatics to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park for the past seven years.

A Dionysian bacchanal of food, wine, and song, the three-day food and music festival in August has become a summer ritual not to be missed for all enthusiasts of gourmet food washed down with an incomparable line-up of entertainment by legendary and emerging artists.

Founded in 2008, Outside Lands complements the best of Northern California’s culinary bounty with a roster of international entertainers amidst the natural splendor of historic Golden Gate Park. One of the nation’s most sustainable festivals with an impeccable environmental record, Outside Lands has raised over $10 million for the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department.

This summer’s eighth edition of the annual three-day festival takes place from August 7th through 9th, offering over 200 menu options from more than 78 local restaurants. Where else can you find dried porcini doughnuts, maple bacon waffles stuffed with fried chicken, ramenburgers, secret breakfast ice cream, bourbon coke floats, and donut cheeseburgers?

Apart from the gourmet smorgasbord, Outside Lands’ 8th edition will feature performances from more than 60 entertainers including Elton John, Sam Smith, St. Vincent, Kendrick Lamar, Wilco, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Billy Idol, D’Angelo and The Vanguard, and numerous others.

Other mouthwatering options from the festival’s 78 restaurants, food trucks and food carts include peanut tofu nachos, fried green tomatoes, gourmet crème brulees, black jet pastries, and cardamom coffee slushies. San Francisco chef and restaurateur Michael Mina will participate in Outside Lands’ VIP experience with Michael Mina’s Tailgate.

Libations will be provided by 37 top regional wineries and 32 breweries, as well as 10 cocktail bars—all serving liquid complement to the likes of Japanese fried chicken, porky fries, ice cream tacos, frozen bananas, chicken parm sandwiches and sexy fries.

Outside Lands’ gustatory offerings are featured in six unique experiences that include Cheese Lands, Beer Lands, Wine Lands, A Taste of the Bay Area, Choco Lands—and GastroMagic, which was introduced in 2014 as a fully-programmed stage devoted to culinary entertainment.

Outside Lands was co-founded by Superfly and Another Planet Entertainment and takes place each August. A limited number of Single Day, Friday VIP tickets are still on sale.
